Ludhiana, 17 July : (Amritpal Singh Sidhu) : Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) is a registered non-profit NGO founded under the Indian Trust Act of 1882, in Mar 1998 by Late Maj Gen RS Pannu.. After his sad and untimely demise in October 2003, Mrs. Inderjit K Pannu who was already one of the Trustees was elected by the Board of Trustees to be the President and Managing Trustee. It is an autonomous body with very eminent and distinguished persons on its Board as Trustees. Smt Gursharan Kaur is our Patron.
GCCI is working through fifteen Regional Offices at Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, patna, Bangalore, chennai Kolkata and many other states. Besides, it has resident representatives in      Other cities. It collaborates with several hospitals and cancer oriented societies for implementation and execution of various cancer related programme.
India has one of the highest number of cancer patients in the world. Every year 5.5 Lakh people die of cancer, while 9 Lakh are diagnosed with it. At any given point there are app. 2.5 million cancer patients in our country. Cancer not only destroys the physical health of an individual but also the economic health of the family.
Therefore, GCCI has set in motion a nationwide crusade to combat pain through the following spectrum of projects:
· Awareness generation and Screening Camps : Since 80% of  patients have to bear the agony of being detected in the later stages of cancer  hence, GCCI is conducting awareness program and screening camps for detection of this disease at the right stage.

· Child Sponsorship: The educational expenses of the children of cancer bereaved families are shared by GCCI through a contribution of Rs 1500 Per Qtr. (this scheme is only for BP families)

· Home Care Services :  GCCI also provides free home nursing care to cancer patients  at their doorsteps with the help of a trained Nurse, doctor and a Project Officer. This service is available in Ludhiana and 30 km surrounding area.
The number of Cancer patients has steeply multiplied during the past couple of years in    Punjab. A door to door survey covering almost 98% of the population conducted from Oct. 2012 to Dec. 2012 by Health Department, Punjab found that incidence of Cancer in Punjab is higher than the national and international average. Malwa region has emerged as the epicenter of the disease but it is also spreading in other parts of Punjab.In view of the need, Global Cancer Concern India has launched a holistic Mobile Palliative Homecare Services for cancer patients at Ludhiana with the partially support from Helpage India. It is pertinent to mention that a mobile van has already been donated by a Satsang Group in Ludhiana in order to help the mobile team reach the doorsteps of the patients well in time as well as cover wider area in and around Ludhiana. The Team comprises a trained Nurse, a Doctor and a Project Officer. The aim is to provide psychological as well as nursing care to a patient suffering from cancer and put him/her in a comfort zone thereby reducing the pain and ensuring dignity for the patients as well as helping their families cope with the disease.

This function was inaugurate by Mr Simranjit Singh Bains(MLA) and during this function Global cancer concern india  (CEO) Dr H S Bakshi, Mr Ganesh (project Head), Mr Sukhdev Singh(Manager) and many more were present.
